Well the French class is getting a bit tougher. We all seem to realize our vocab is not what is should be, but that we definitely understand the concepts of all the conjugations thrown at us.
Tommorrow I'm giving a five minute speech in French on "shagging" (South Carolina's state dance). Katherine gave a great talk last Friday on Greek life at Longwood and it sparked much interest from our teacher. It is going to be hard to follow such a good talk!
I think one girl is giving a speech on chi which should be very interesting for the French to try to understand....
A few of us have managed to step outside our comfort zones and talk with the other international students in our class. They are all very nice but aren't living with host families like us LU students.
Today is Bastille Day which is the Frenchs day to celebrate their freedom. Instead of French class we had history class with Isaac. We learned mroe about the politics intertwining with religion in the 1500s in France. Then we translated some old documents to further grasp the peoples perspective of it all. Taking the history class the way we are is not at all like taking a class at Longwood. Even though our lectures are in the same style with Isaac its easier to want to participate and to also pay attention because our classes are about information that we can see the result of in our town and in our homes! Very fascinating for the history major in us all.
Well my times at the cafe is up!

So far so good
Well everything is going just swell!
I've come to realize the family must have had students before because they have served fries almost every night and there are some "homestay" gifts on the walls in the house.
I had to decline the shrimp with eyes and legs - it was just too much for me, but at least I tried it!*
We took of tour of Poitiers on Sunday- very religiously historic! Google it.
The French course is spoken all in French without any English (because not everyone speaks English). We have students from Poland, Russia, Indonesia, Spain, Slovenia, Germany, Great Britain and of course the good ole' USA. Its cool to get a chance to speak to them about sterotypes and just anything at all either in French or English.
I'm super excited since I'll be going to a MIKA concert on teh 16th being that its the HUGE music festival (Francofoloie) in La Rochelle this month. Plus everything in the shops is also on sale (soldes) because their sale month is July.
This country is incredible and everything I've read or done in class was great but uncomparable to the first hand experience.
I can't wait to see what else is just aroudn the corner....

Its the Start of Something NEW!
Well I flew from Charleston (Home) to Dulles today!
I'm staying with friends until my AirFrance flight tomorrow!
So in France I will be studying French (LU's Level 3 French equivilent) from La Rochelle University PLUS Dr. Isaac has worked with our study abroad group on the History of the Religion in France.
I can't wait to get going!
This is going to be a wild (but obviously educational) month!
Next time I write a blog I'll be across the Atlantic!
